Breakfast with the Birds at Hunter Wetlands Centre
Arrive for an 8 am start with an experienced guide from Hunter Bird Observers Club taking you on a leisurely walk to all the best bird spotting places. Expect to see a range of our resident wetland birds and their bush-dwelling neighbours.
Breakfast will be available after the walk at 9 am in the Wetlands Café overlooking the ponds (optional).
Scopes and binoculars will be set up on the café deck for you to view the birds on the ponds.
Bring your own binoculars if you have them. Limited number available on the day.
Cost: $10 Guided walk and entry for the day only – breakfast is at your own expense.

Hunter Wetlands Centre is celebrating World Environment Day with talks and tours to help visitors appreciate our wonderful wetland environment.
• Join a guide from the Hunter Bird Observers Club for Breakfast with the Birds. (Booking essential).
• Take a buggy tour and rainforest walk to see the restored East Coast Native rainforest that was once common in this area.
• Enjoy the wildlife and see the history of the wetlands revealed as you paddle along the canoe channel on a guided tour. (Booking essential)
• Free guided walks.
• Learn why we are a Ramsar wetlands of international significance at a free talk.
• Find out about our Bush Tucker Garden at a free talk.
• For the kids there’s craft, dip-netting and the chance to get up close to some of our friendly reptiles.
Entry $5 for the day.
Wetlands Cafe open for breakfast from 8.30am

Meet at the Visitor Centre at 11am and head off to the canoe shed for an 11.30am launch.
After a safety briefing and paddle instructions, Geoff will lead the group along the canoe channel to Ironbark Creek introducing the fascinating diversity of wildlife both above and below the water. Learn about the history of the wetlands as revealed along the banks. A 30 to 40 minute paddle brings you to the rainforest landing where you will disembark for a break and to explore the rainforest.
Please bring lunch/snack and a water bottle.
After this break you will paddle back to the canoe shed. Expect to back around 2.00pm.
Participants must wear closed shoes and a hat is recommended.
Buoyancy vests will be provided and must be worn.
Two and three seater canoes are available.
Cost: $20.00 per person. Children (must be 4 years ) $10.00
