Celebrate 50 Years of Open Foundation with the University of Newcastle Galleries. Open Foundation has seen tens of thousands of students set out on their educational journeys, helping them to realise their dreams and achieve their goals.
50 YEARS FIFTY STORIES marks this milestone through an exhibition of 50 photographs and stories of both current and former students who are representative of the profound impact Open Foundation has had on individuals and the wider community.
The 50 YEARS FIFTY STORIES exhibition and commemorative book have been made possible with the help of a wonderful team of current undergraduate students, including photographers, designers, and writers, some of whom are Open Foundation graduates themselves.

Love, sunshine and the open road.
Frank and Frances have found new love later in life. They decide to load up the van and drive to far north Queensland to start a new life together, far away from their adult children and the bleak Melbourne weather. Now is their time. But Frances is torn between her responsibilities to her family and her relationship with Frank – which her daughters disapprove of. Frank was not a good husband in his previous relationship and is determined to make this one work. But old habits die hard.
The play is set in the period 1969 – 1972. In it, playwright David Williamson explores the complex relationships between characters which remain very relatable to today’s audiences.

Every city possesses a unique and valuable identity that is expressed through its physical and visual form. This identity is perceived by its residents and users, shaping their collective memories. The city’s identity comprises its physical spaces and the images formed through memory cues, which in turn affect tourism, education, culture, and economic prosperity. Arts and architecture play a significant role in shaping the history of civilizations and fostering the growth of ancient and modern cities. This extends beyond buildings and constructions to encompass traditions, cultural beliefs, and communal arts.

Hunter Arts Network is pleased to share that we have rescheduled our August Art Bazaar. It will be held on Sunday 29 September 2024 from 10am to 3pm. Due to the unkind wet weather, before things got too disastrous for our stallholders they had no option other than to pack up on the day. It was very disappointing and unfortunate for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing you on our new date in September!
Hunter Arts Network Art Bazaar is a high quality artisan market that has been held since 2002.
The stallholders at this event are all from the Hunter region of NSW. All stallholders are creative makers who have been selected by Hunter Arts Network because of their unique, handmade, high quality and original work. While wandering the stalls, enjoy live entertainment, food trucks and coffee. Art Bazaar continually brings the handmade art community to loyal followers who find gifts or treats for themselves, while meeting the local Hunter makers and artists they are supporting.
Hunter Arts Network is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers who have also worked hard to celebrate all modalities of visual arts and the committee that has come together continues to do an amazing job to make this happen.
Applications for stallholders are now open! So join now to participate in two more markets this year as we also have our Christmas Art Bazaar coming up on Sunday 1 December 2024
All stallholders are approved by HAN to become a member. Membership also includes your public liability insurance for your stall at Art Bazaar and we also provide help to unload and re-load your vehicle! (Thanks to Newcastle Men’s Shed)
Click here to apply for a stall – the stall fee is $70.00:
https://form.jotform.com/hunterarts/September
New members welcome – the fees for membership are:
$65 for individuals
$90 for groups of 3 or less
$110 for large groups, galleries, businesses or community organisations.
When you join HAN you are joining a community of like-minded members with the support of a hard working committee and HAN is Not-for-profit.
