Hunter Child Diagnosed with Meningococcal Disease

Hunter New England Health has confirmed that there’s been another local case of meningococcal disease.

A young child has been taken to a local hospital with the potentially fatal disease.

Thankfully, they are in a stable condition.

It’s understood this is the ninth case of meningococcal disease in the Hunter for this year.

We’re being urged to look out for symptoms of the condition, which include vomiting, nausea and a reddish purple rash.
