Thousands of Runners and Supporters hit the Newcastle Coastline for the Newcastle Running Festival

Hundreds of Novocastrian’s will tick marathon off the bucket-list today in the last event of Newcastle’s Running Festival.

Following years of natural disasters and Covid-19 restrictions organisers are happy to see numbers finally increasing back to where they were almost 4 years ago, with runners from all over the Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney flocking to the Newcastle coastline.

Alongside the thousands of runners participating in the sold out event, thousands more friends, family and supporters are expected to flock to the sidelines cheering on runners for their final lap.

The marathon is held on a unique 10.55km loop which causes minimal traffic for pedestrians along the foreshore, although, the event will cause some traffic changes until midday along Wharf road from Workshop Way to Nobbys roundabout and Shortland Esplanade from Nobbys to Zarra Street.
