Long awaited bridge on the way

Residents living in Clarence Town and surrounds are set to get their long awaited new bridge over the Williams River.

The state and federal government have put a combined $20.6 million dollars on the table for the new crossing, which will be built alongside the Brig O’Johnson Bridge on Lime Burners Creek road.

The heritage-listed bridge was badly damaged back in July last year by a heavy vehicle.

The damage resulting in it being out of action for almost a month, which meant residents had to take a detour of thirty extra minutes.

The new crossing will be able to support vehicles of up to 2.8 metres wide and up to 22 tonne.
