Hunter to receive more breast care nurses

The Hunter New England Local Health District will share in 28 new Breast Care Nurses promised by the state government.

A more than $18 million dollar investment will see the additional McGrath Foundation Nurses delivered across metro, regional and rural communities.

The nurses are specially trained to provide free care and support for cancer patients during their treatment.

New statistics reveal one in seven women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives.

Eight of the new special care nurses have already commenced work, one of those in Gosford.
