Man charged after toddler’s leg broken by scooter

A man has been charged following an electric scooter crash that allegedly broke a toddler’s leg at Cardiff.

At around 10am on Thursday, emergency crews were called to the scene at a shopping centre on Main road, following reports of an injured child.

They treated a four- year -old girl suffering lacerations her face and a broken leg before she was transferred in a stable condition to The John Hunter Hospital where she underwent surgery.

Police were told a man riding an electric scooter had lost control of the device before it crashed into the young child, he allegedly then retrieved the scooter before fleeing the scene.

Following enquiries and public assistance, police yesterday arrested a man at Belmont Police station.

The 37 -year- old was charged with grievous bodily harm by negligent act and ride electric scooter on footpath

He was granted conditional bail to front Belmont Court on Wednesday 29th November.
