Police are investigating an assault in Newcastle CBD this morning.
Two people have been taken to hospital following the alleged assault at a motel near the corner of Hunter and Union Streets.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
Police remain on the scene with a part of Hunter Street blocked off.
