COVID rule breakers continue to be caught in the Hunter

COVID rule breakers continue to be caught in the Hunter region.

Over the weekend the latest breaches included a 33-year-old Port Stephens woman copped a $1,000 fine after she’d been caught traveling to Sydney to help a friend move house.

The woman was reported to police on Friday – officers turned up at a restaurant on Town Centre Circuit, Salamander Bay on Friday at about 7:30pm to speak to the woman who had traveled to the Ryde area.

She told officers she’d stayed in Sydney overnight and returned that day before working on Friday evening.

The woman was issued with a fine.

Meantime, a man in his 60s was found sleeping inside his car at Hawks Nest on Saturday.

He told police he’d traveled from Turramurra for some ‘peace and quiet’.

The man was also fined $1,000 for breaching the Public Health Order.
