ALERT: Measles Warning for the Hunter!

NSW Health has issued a measles alert for the Hunter, after a child developed the infection while visiting from overseas.

They reportedly became infectious on Christmas Eve and visited a number of locations over the holiday period including:

* Oakvale Winery, Broke Road at Pokolbin on December 28
* Bimbadgen Winery, McDonalds Road at Pokolbin on December 29

The child also visited Chatswood Medical Centre, Chatswood Mall and the Royal North Shore hospital in Sydney between December 31 and New Year’s Day.

Anyone who was in these locations at the same time is being urged to keep an eye out for symptoms which can include a fever, sore eyes and a red, blotchy rash.

Measles is highly contagious and can spread through coughing or sneezing.

If you do have symptoms, visit your GP and limit your contact with other people.
