Sydney Junction Hotel’s Hours to be Reduced

The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) has moved to reduce the sale of alcohol at Hamilton’s Sydney Junction Hotel.

The board has decided that the Sydney Junction will cease the sale of alcoholic drinks at 1:30am Monday to Saturday and midnight on Sundays.

Currently the hotel’s bar operates until 3am from Monday to Saturday.

It comes after Newcastle Police applied to revoke the hotel’s extended trading hours.

However, the application was rejected, with the ILGA instead taking their own actions.

The hotel was deemed the most violent venue in NSW by the ILGA just a few months ago.

The changes will come into effect on July 1.
