Ausgrid is urging residents not to be alarmed by low-flying helicopters, as their fire safety patrols wrap-up this week.
The chopper has been monitoring power lines since April, checking them for fire risks ahead of the bush fire season.
The helicopter flies close to power lines at low speed to repair any hazards identified.
Ausgrid is expected to conduct checks in a number of areas across Lake Macquarie and Newcastle in this final week.
