Police Investigating Series of Break-Ins at Lake Macquarie

Police are warning Lake Macquarie residents to be on the lookout after a spate of recent break-ins in the area.

The latest incident allegedly involved three people at Brushtail Place, Belmont just before 3am this morning.

Officers say they found a Jeep Cherokee, which was reportedly stolen from a Hill Street address, with a number of stolen items inside.

A 19-year-old male was arrested soon after and charged with break, enter and steal, carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen.

He was granted conditional bail and will front court on Thursday, March 29.

Police are working to locate the owners of the recovered property.

They’re also warning residents to take steps to reduce the chance of a break-in, including locking all doors and removing valuables from your car when you leave it unattended.
