A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly breaking into a Mount Hutton property and hitting the occupant with a hammer.
Police were called to the Kestrel Avenue home last night where it’s thought a 54-year-old man smashed through a glass door and struck the owner in the head.
Officers arrested the man who is thought to be a relative of the victim.
He has been refused bail to front court today.
The victim has been taken to the John Hunter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries including skull fractures.
