Brass Band Newcastle (BBN) has been formed and consists of some of the best brass players from Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley and the Central Coast with guest players from across Australia. BBN will present this very special performance to showcase the achievements of the Newcastle Steelworks Band 100 years after their success. The music will be narrated as you appreciate the beauty of the music of the 1920’s. and agree that these achievements need to be recognized. Listen to the journey of the Newcastle Steelworks Band and note that all of the players worked at the BHP. In 1924 you will be surprised that the Steelworks Band made a bold move and travelled to tour Britain contesting against the best Brass Bands in the country. The Newcastle Steelworks Brass Band from the colonies became British Empire Champions and now go down in history as one of the best brass bands of those times.
