A spate of alleged attempted robberies and car jackings has ended with police tasering a man in Newcastle this morning.
Just before 8:30am, it’s believed a man aged in his 40s staged an armed hold-up at a service station on Maitland Road at Tighes Hill.
He reportedly made off with cash.
A short time later, he allegedly tried to steal two cars on Elizabeth Street and eventually made off in a taxi before attempting to rob three people, threatening them with a knife, inside an industrial store.
Officers had to deploy a taser in their arrest.
The man was then charged with armed robbery and assault with intent to take a motor vehicle.
He’s been refused bail and will front court tomorrow.
