Worrying drug-driving test numbers in the Hunter

Police have detected a concerning level of drug driving, following a five-day blitz in the Hunter.

The operation ran from last Thursday until yesterday.

The traffic response group put on 13 extra highway vehicles to cover all police districts in the Hunter.

Out of 725 drug tests which were conducted, 39 returned positive results.

There were nearly 1500 alcohol breath tests carried out, with only two mid-rage readings recorded.
